James Edward Meeks, a devoted family man and lifelong truck driver, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at his sister, Martha's in Clover, South Carolina.. Born on July 29, 1955, in Duluth, Georgia, James lived a life richly filled with love for his family, an enduring dedication to his work, and simple joys found in music and togetherness.

James attended Stanley High School, where the foundation of his love for family and music was laid. Throughout his life, he found comfort and enjoyment in listening to music on YouTube and treasuring every moment spent with his loved ones. Family vacations held a special place in his heart, creating memories that would be cherished by all who shared in them.

Known as a man who truly lived for his family, his two brothers, Charles and Cleveland and a sister, Martha were always close; James’s greatest pride was his entire life's journey marked by love, commitment, and the deep connections he nurtured with those around him. His joy for his family was evident in every interaction, revealing a character defined by warmth, devotion, and quiet strength.

James is lovingly remembered by his children, Heather Nicole Meeks and Mindy Meeks; his daughter-in-law, Gina Meeks; and his beautiful grandchildren Dallas, Diego, Elijah, and Makayla. His legacy lives on through his great-grandchildren Ayla and Kashton, who brought him endless happiness. He is also survived by his brother Charles Meeks, sister Martha Harper and her husband Rex, sister-in-law Linda Meeks, his mother-in-law Patricia Jackson, and father-in-law Larry Jackson. Their presence reflects the strong circle of family that surrounded him in life and supported him in his final days.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rev. Ira Theodore Meeks and Martha Ellen "Allene" Meeks; his cherished wife of 50 years, Miranda Friday Meeks; his son, Josh Meeks; his brother, Cleveland Meeks; and sister-in-law Anita Meeks. Their memories remain a solemn yet comforting part of James’s story.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Iron Station Missionary Church, located at 2583 Will Schronce Road in Iron Station, North Carolina. Following this, a Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM at the same location,with Pastor Johnny Caldwell officiating; inviting all who knew and loved James to honor his remarkable life and lasting impact.. Burial will follow at Hardin Community Church Cemetery Hardin Road, Dallas beside his beloved wife Miranda.Pallbearers will be Darrin Poteat, Devin Poteat, Larry Holbrooks, Isaac Harper, Jeffery Manley, and Caleb Robbins.

James Edward Meeks leaves behind a rich legacy of love, dedication, and joyful memories. He was a man who found his ultimate pride not in wealth or accolades, but in the life he built and the family he held close. His spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who loved him, a beautiful testament to a life well-lived.
