Dallas - James Lamar Whisnant, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas with his loving family by his side. Lamar was born in Gastonia and is the son of the late Jennie Mae Welch and Lemuel Taylor Whisnant.
Lamar was a graduate of Ashley High School, Gaston Tech (Gaston College), where he played baseball. Lamar was an avid outdoorsman. He was the owner of EMF Industries, Inc. and is a member of First United Methodist Church, Dallas. He was a loving father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
Lamar is survived by his beloved son, James Lamar Whisnant, Jr. and his wife Mary Pendleton Gray Whisnant; two grandsons, James Gray Whisnant and John Reed Whisnant.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, 203 S. Main Street, Stanley, NC 28164 with Rev. Billy Ervin officiating. The family will receive friends following the Graveside Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to First United Methodist Church, 301 West Main Street, Dallas, North Carolina 28034.
