Gastonia - Jean Marie Farris, 69 went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully October 31, 2020.
Those left behind to cherish Jean's memories include her sister-in-law, Julia Eskridge Farris; two nephews, John Michael Farris of Delray Beach, Florida and James Franklin Farris of Gastonia, North Carolina; two great nieces; Aspen Amberly Ski Farris and Nova Adalynne Farris.
Jean was the beloved daughter of the late John Leo Farris Sr. and Lillian Moses Farris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Leo Farris, Jr.
She was a graduate of Ashley High School, later attending Gaston Skills. Jean had worked the 3rd shift at the Gaston Gazette and also had worked at Akers Center Pet Shop. Jean loved babies and animals especially dogs and horses. She had an infectious smile and laugh. Jean was a simple person enjoying professional wrestling and attending baseball games at Sims Park. She also enjoyed watching movies such as the Lion King, cartoons, painting by numbers and doing crafts, dressing up in her jewelry and listening to music.
Jean was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church but had been confined to various rehabilitation centers. Jean loved to comfort others and wanted what was fair for everyone. The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to all her caregivers over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 9th at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 708 St. Michael's Lane, Gastonia, NC 28052 with Reverend Father Lucas Rossi as Celebrant. The family will receive friends 1 hr prior to the service in the Narthex.
Graveside and Committal Ceremony will follow at Belmont Abbey Cemetery, 100 Belmont Mount Holly Road, Belmont NC 28012.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak; if you feel the need to stay home, a card or phone call to the family will be appreciated.
