Jeanne Smith Abernathy

Jeanne Smith Abernathy, 56, passed away on December 15, 2023 with her family by her side.

She was born in Gaston County on October 12, 1967 to the late Jerry Max Smith Sr. and Patsy Rabb Smith.  

Jeanne worked as a server and gained many lifelong friends from her work. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed art, cooking, fishing, going to the mountains and above all else, she loved her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Autumn Abernathy and Rickey Butler, and Erin Abernathy. Her  brothers, Jerry Max Smith Jr. and wife Blair Styers Smith and Timothy Smith and wife Michelle Johnson Smith; and her grandchildren, Eli, Skylar and Jaxon; and nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn Speas, Dr. Kirklin Smith, Zion Smith and Sylas Smith.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Tripp Hord officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Salvation Army.
