Jerry Lee Funderburk, born on December 16, 1958, in Gaston County, North Carolina, peacefully departed from this life on May 13, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. He passed suddenly, surrounded by the loving presence of his family.
Jerry was a man who cherished the simple yet profound joys of life. Known for his warm personality, he found joy in spending time with family and friends, creating lasting memories that those who loved him will forever hold dear. His pride and joy were his children, and he took great pleasure in watching them grow and thrive.
A lover of life’s gentler pleasures, Jerry had a passion for gardening, nurturing plants with the same care and dedication that defined his approach to life. He enjoyed grilling out with the children, filling the air with the tantalizing aroma of food and laughter. Card games were another source of delight, where he could engage in spirited competition and shared fun. Listening to Bluegrass music with his brother brought him a sense of connection and peace, weaving a soundtrack of cherished moments into his days.
Jerry leaves behind a devoted family who will carry his memory forward with love and honor. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Herron Funderburk, and his children Jonathan, David, Steven, Johnny Lee, Amber (Donny Morrow), and Angel. His loving brother, Pastor Randy Funderburk, and sister-in-law Brenda, as well as his sisters Cynthia Patterson and Stella Holland, stand close to his memory and legacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dean and Bonnie Kelly Funderburk, and his son Jerry Michael Funderburk, whose memories are carried with both sorrow and enduring love.
A visitation to honor Jerry’s life will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas, North Carolina. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM at the same location. The final farewell will be held with burial services at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Jerry Lee Funderburk’s spirit—marked by kindness, dedication, and heartfelt joy—will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew him. As we remember his life, we honor the love he gave so freely and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to those who loved him.
