Jimmy Gene Jones

Jimmy Gene Jones, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving wife by his side. Jimmy was born in Sylva, North Carolina on August 5, 1938 and is the son of the late Lyman L. and May Belle Johnson Jones.

Jimmy was faithful in the Lord's Fellowship at West 5th Avenue Free Will Baptist Church. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

Jimmy enjoyed hobbies of fishing, gardening and bird watching.

He will be cherished and missed by many friends and neighbors.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, which he was lovingly devoted to Frances Jean Clevenger Jones; daughter, Robin Michelle Wilson and husband Mark; son, Scott Jeffrey Jones; grandson, Alex Jones.

The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at West 5th Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, 2145 West 5th Avenue, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at West 5th Avenue Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Cole officiating.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery "A Quiet Place", Belmont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to West 5th Avenue Free Will Baptist Church, 2145 West 5th Avenue, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052.
