Joann Duncan

Joann Duncan, 71, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Tabor City, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Rev. Semer Levi Duncan and Edna Worley Duncan. 

Joann was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Duncan; nephew, Steve Duncan.

Joann was a retired Police Officer with the City of Gastonia after 34 years of dedicated service.  She loved her profession of service to the Gastonia community.

Joann is survived by one brother, Odell Duncan (Dawn); two sisters, Pauline Ruff and Jeanette Seagle; nieces and nephews; Tina, Chris, Zach, Josh, Jimmy, Tammy, and Eric: Numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Leo Kuykendall officiating.

The City of Gastonia Police Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane Section of Gaston Memorial Park with a 21-gun salute by the City Police Department.
