Joe Felix Black, Jr.

Gastonia – Joe Felix Black, Jr., 82, passed away November 13, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side.   

Joe was born in Gaston County on November 29, 1939 to the late Joe Felix Black and Carrie Arrowood Black. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Joey Black; and his siblings, Neal Black, Ruby Moore, Helen Hanch, Jean Jordan, and Van Black.

Joe was a retired veteran after 23 years serving in the US Air Force. He worked as a machinist at Freightliner and retired after 22 years of dedicated service. He leaves behind many happy memories that will be cherished by his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Brenda Ramsey Black; sons, Timothy Mark Black (Shellie) and Anthony Michael Black; daughter, Anna Marie Black Silva, Tammy Marlene Barber, and Carrie Malene Howard (Daniel); 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church 2200 Auten Road Gastonia NC 28054 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David MacEachran officiating.

Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
