Dallas – Joe Rhyne Friday, 92, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaston County on August 2, 1928 to the late Julius B. and Flo Rhyne Friday.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Faye Walker Friday; and his siblings, Hugh, Earl, Bryan Friday, Mae Bentley, Selena Reidys and Florene Bridger.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Gaston County where he and his wife Faye raised their wonderful children. Joe retired from the NC Department of Transportation where he was a foreman for 42 years of dedicated service. Joe was a member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church and was very active in his church for many years. He loved his John Deer tractor and enjoyed farming. Joe took great pride in his "walking stick collection" that he carved over the years. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed!
Survivors include his loving children; daughters, Cindy Friday; Mary Jo Friday; son, Todd Friday and wife Dana; his wonderful grandchildren that he adored, Jeff, and wife Cassie, Daniel, Evan and Lilly; sister, Faye F. Henderson; special niece, Kim Chapman, along with many numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 2nd at Philadelphia Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1910 Philadelphia Church Road, Dallas, NC with the releasing of the doves. A Funeral service will held at a later date.
