Joe David McCall

Dallas – Joe David McCall, 89, passed away June 16, 2022, at Robin Johnson House with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Mecklenburg County on December 18, 1932, to the late Joseph Reid McCall and Merle Thornburg. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ellen Hatchell McCall, who passed on September 20, 2016.

Joe enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He enjoyed going to the mountains and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and dog sitting with his grand dogs. Joe retired as an insurance underwriter after many years of dedicated service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Joe was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish Joe’s memories are his daughters, Laura McCall (Lori Gibson) and Carol McCall-Davis (Missie); and his grandchildren Allison McCall-Davis, Rebecca McCall-Davis, and Erin McCall-Davis.  

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 301 West Main Street, Dallas, North Carolina.  A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Billy Ervin officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen “A Quiet Place” in Belmont.
