John "Nick" James Alexander Nichols

John James Alexander "Nick"  Nichols was a beloved son and brother born on March 13, 1997.

He renamed himself Nick Nichols when he was age 10. Nick loved his family, cats, the beach, lasagna, and prime rib! Nick graduated from Cramerton Christian Academy and earned his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Appalachian State University. He worked for Software One, Toyota, and General Electric as a computer programmer and developer.

Nick was navigating life on the Autism spectrum. He found fellowships like LinkIt, Time Out Youth, and T2T to further his understanding of his diagnosis always longing for connection. He loved lazy rivers, video games, spending time with family, and chatting with friends. As a child Nick was very creative, curious, and exploratory, he carried those same attributes into adulthood. He also loved fireworks, movies, learning to cook, learning new languages, and questioning the validity of everything. Nick loved long car rides whereas he would open up and talk about everything under the sun.

To truly know Nick, you had to see inside his childlike, tender, and loving heart.

He had such a playful spirit, quick witted, and was always surprising us with his Nickism’s.

Nick had a knack for finding humor in most situations challenging us all to laugh.

He was such a sweet, soft, gentle soul.

Nick passed away accidentally in his sleep on 3/23/2026. He will be laid to rest beside his mother, Donna Nichols. He is survived by his Father, Johnnie Nichols, and sisters Kelly and Heather Nichols. May he forever rest in peace
