John "Reggie" Reginald Berry

John Reginald “Reggie” Berry, 83, of Gastonia, NC passed away peacefully at The Greens at Gastonia, Monday, August 11, 2025.

Reggie loved the Lord and would serve Him in many capacities over the years. He loved to visit people in nursing homes and hospitals; this was his ministry. He shared many words of wisdom while serving as an Elder at Charlotte Gospel Chapel in Charlotte, NC. When Reggie faced the loss of his wife Barbara, he was devastated. He was a devoted caregiver for her as she battled Parkinson for many years. Seeking solace, he joined a grief support group. This is where he met and fell in love with his loving wife, Carol. Reggie and Carol not only enjoyed serving the Lord together but also shared a love for the beach. It was not uncommon to find them fishing from a boat, on a pier, or on the surf. Since returning from Florida, Carol and Reggie have enjoyed worshiping and serving the Lord at Fellowship Church in Dallas, NC. Throughout his life, he worked in construction, sold insurance, and retired from the NC Department of Corrections.

He was born July 22, 1942, in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late John Russel Berry and Vera Sanders Dunlap. Also preceded in death, his stepfather, Bill John Dunlap.

Reggie is survived by his wife of 12 years, Carol Killian Berry, brother Rodney Earl Berry and wife Phyllis, sister Vera Elaine Moss and husband Terry, sister Jane Dunlap Johnson and husband Larry, preceded in death, his brother Billy John Dunlap. Surviving sister-in-law, Betty Anderson. Reggie also leaves behind many other family members that will greatly miss him.

Please join us in his home going celebration of life Friday 8/15/25 at Fellowship Church 2352 Dallas - Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034.

Visitation will start at 12:00pm, followed by the service at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Church 2352 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034.

The pallbearers will be, Larry Johnson, Cody Johnson, Jeremy Moss, Ethan Moss, Grayson Moss, and Zac Moss.
