Joyce Reep Costner

Joyce Reep Costner, born on May 7, 1946, in Lincoln County, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She went home to be with her beloved husband, Clyde, who passed in June.

Her family was undoubtedly Joyce's proudest accomplishment. She was a member of Hardin Community Baptist Church, where her spirit of love and fellowship extended beyond her immediate family to all congregants. She loved gospel music, and spending time with her grandchildren, she was the best grandma ever. She always gave a big hug and said I love you, ever if she just met you. She loved her dog, Bubba who was by her side until she passed.

Joyce is survived by her wonderful children, Tammy Smith (Phillip), Randy Costner (Wendy), and Clyde "Frankie" Costner, Jr. (Robin); and her grandchildren, Ethan Smith (Jess), Caleb Costner (Mikayla), Seth Costner, Hunter Costner, Harli Araya (Andreas), and Donna Cress (Adam). Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Oaklynn, Blakelynn, Ben, Kinsley, Laney, Sawyer, Lucas, Liam, Eli, Marley, and Charles. She is also survived by her siblings, Dean Reep (Vickie), Ray Reep (Patty), Robert Reep, David Reep (Annette), Lorraine Hersman (Rodney).

She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 61 years, Clyde Franklin Costner, Sr, as well as siblings Jim Reep, Betty Houser, and Mary Craig.

Joyce Costner's memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends, who will be remember for her unwavering love, and her cherished presence in their lives.

Visitation services will be held on Monday, January 12th, from 12:30 PM to 1:50 PM at Hardin Community Baptist Church, located at 548 Hardin Road, Dallas, NC 28034, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM, Monday at Hardin Community Baptist with Pastor Justin Driver and Pastor Fain Farmer officiating. Her grandsons Seth, Hunter and Ethan will also speak. Burial will follow at Hardin Community Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Ethan Smith, Seth Costner, Caleb Costner, Hunter Costner, Matthew Carpenter and John Helms.
