Judy Ann Philbeck Hiland

Judy Ann Philbeck Hiland, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, was born on December 25, 1946, in Gaston County, NC. She passed away on May 13, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her cherished family.

She devoted many years of her life in service at Ticaro and later retired from Burlin Fabrics, where her work ethic and dedication left an indelible mark. But perhaps her greatest contributions lay not within the walls of her workplace, but within the warm embrace of her family. She was a loving mother to her sons, Larry and his wife Malinda Hiland, and Tim Hiland and his girlfriend April Lynn. Judy took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren - Jeffery Hiland, Chris Hiland, Timothy Hiland, Brandi Herrera, Hannah Halsell, Dustin Hiland, and Taylor Hiland. Each one of them held a special place in her heart, and her legacy lives on through her 14 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Family gatherings were a highlight of Judy’s life, and she is fondly remembered for her wonderful cooking, which brought everyone together around the dinner table. Her warmth and love radiated through the meals she prepared, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure to share them.

Judy had a spirit that truly embraced life. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and trips to the mountains, where she enjoyed nature’s beauty. Her adventurous spirit often led her to yard sales, where she delighted in the thrill of finding treasures and sharing her discoveries with others.

Judy was surrounded by loving family during her final moments. She leaves behind her brothers Wayne and his wife Frankie Philbeck, Howard Philbeck, Leonard and his wife Janice Philbeck, and her sisters Barbara Philbeck and Clara Bynum. Their unwavering support and companionship added to the richness of her life. Judy is now reunited with those who have gone before her, including her beloved parents, James and Doris Philbeck, her husband Ricky Hiland, her son Julius and his wife Tracey Hiland, grandsons Dustin and Timothy Hiland, and her brother Ellis Philbeck. Their memories will forever remain etched in the hearts of those she loved.
