Judy Whisnant Edwards

Dallas - Judy Loraine Whisnant Edwards, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 after a long battle with her health at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.  

Judy was born in Gaston County on April 10, 1953 to the late Loraine Arrendale Upchurch and Carl Whisnant. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, Bobby Edwards, who died in 2015; her sister, Patsy Crocker and a brother, James Danny Whisnant.

She devoted her life to her family. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Judy was a hard worker, she worked in health care at the Sisters of Mercy most of her life. She enjoyed camping with family, and gardening.  Judy liked people watching, feeding the squirrels, and especially her Chihuahuas.

She has given her family & friends a lifetime of wonderful memories & will never be forgotten. Judy was very proud of her boys and grandkids.

Judy is survived by her sons, Danny Whisnant and Bobby Whisnant

daughters, Summer Lowe and Brandy Lowe; Karen McCall Gibson (who was like a daughter)

grandchildren; Ashlee Merritt, Haley and Garrison Whisnant, Levi Lowe, Dawson Champion, Alexis Whisnant, Marina and Kylie Murray, Jasmine Johnson, Skyy Leatherman and Tialana Crawford, Tiffany Haney (who was like a grandchild), her sister Rita Byrd, and Pat Gulledge (Lifelong family friend)

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the chapel.  Interment will follow at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
