1950-2021

Karen McQuage Queen, of Gastonia, NC, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2021. She was born on March 10, 1950. She is a twin daughter of the late James and Elizabeth McQuage.

Left to cherish her memories are; three sons, Larry and Matthew Brock, and Scott Queen (Tina); daughter Stephanie Hamilton (Stuart); her twin sister Kathy Cochran (Danny); brother, Ricky Lindley (Elaine); and sister-in-law Elaine Salotti. Karen's #1 "Fan Club" is her five grand kids and three great-grandkids; along with nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Karen Queen was a former member of Zion Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, for seventeen years. She is presently a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, (Rev. Scott Whitener). On September 1, 2002, Karen was awarded a certificate of retirement in appreciation for thirty years of honorable and faithful service to the City of Gastonia Police Department. She was a very loyal, dedicated, and valuable public servant. While attending Gaston College to further her education, Karen stated that her work with the Detective Bureau will always be her "Dream Job of a Lifetime." The City of Gastonia Police Department (Detective Bureau) presented Karen Queen an official Detectives Badge #88 recently.

Karen Queen is preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Kay; two brothers, Bill and Roger McQuage; and one nephew, Trey McQuage. Two days before she passed, her loving husband of 39 years, Gary Queen went to prepare for her entrance into heaven.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:15 p.m., prior to a Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13th at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Scott Whitener officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Time section with honors by the Gastonia Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
