Kenneth "Kenny" Blankenship, 78 of Stanley, NC, passed away peacefully after a long and bravely fought illness.
While our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing he is now free.
Kenny was born in Welch, WV, on October 14, 1948. He was an Army Veteran, a cancer survivor, a coal miner, an electrician, a welder, a fixer and builder of just about anything. He loved to fish, the mountains; believe it or not, he loved to work and tell stories about growing up. But most of all, he loved his family.
He now watches over his daughter, Melanie Myers (Husband Ken) of Mount Holly, NC; son, Dusty Blankenship (wife Maria) of Stanley, NC, and grandchildren Brittany Cathey, Cliff Stines (partner Logan), Lilly Grace. Great-grandchildren Liam Hafer and Bella Grace Hafer. Sisters: Betty Richards of Hardy, VA, and June Rogers of Coalwood, WV; brother: Mike Blankenship (wife Sandy) of Bristol, VA. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was met in Heaven by his parents, George and Helen Blankenship, and his brothers, Billy Blankenship and Bob Blankenship.
The family will hold a private celebration of his life at his sister Betty's house in Hardy, VA
We miss you already, Daddy.
