Linda Carol Whitehurst Summer, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, has passed away at the age of 76. She was born on March 21, 1947 in Asheville, North Carolina to Medford John and Doris Marie Irvine Whitehurst will be remembered for her loving nature and the joy she brought to those around her.
Throughout her life, Linda found fulfillment in being a mother and grandmother. Her passion for creating a warm and inviting home led her to develop various talents. She excelled in baking, infusing vibrant life into her surroundings
Cooking was another avenue through which expressed her love for others. Her kitchen was always filled with mouthwatering aromas as she prepared savory dishes with love. Whether it was a family gathering or a simple weeknight meal, Linda’s culinary creations brought warmth and happiness to those fortunate enough to share in her meals.
Surrounded by loved ones, Linda’s peacefully passed away on November 18, 2023, at Robin Johnson House, Dallas, North Carolina. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
Linda’s family and friends will come together to honor her memory at a Memorial service on November 26, 2023. The service will be held at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church, 301 South New Hope Road, Gastonia with Reverend Sally Queen officiating.
Linda leaves behind a cherished family who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was the beloved wife of Paul Walters, Jr. and the loving mother of Matthew Kalinoski and wife Shannon, Steve Kalinoski and wife Karen; Her grandchildren, Bradley and Marie were the lights of her life; her brothers, Ricky Whitehurst and Ronnie Whitehurst.
Throughout her life, Linda's proudest accomplishments were centered around her family. She dedicated herself to nurturing strong bonds with each member of her kin. The love she poured into their lives created a tapestry of cherished moments that will endure through generations.
In celebrating Linda’s life, let us remember the way she touched our souls with her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration as we navigate the days ahead.
As we bid farewell to Linda let us also hold dear the memories, we shared with her. Let us find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on within each of us, guiding us towards love, compassion, and the pursuit of a purpose-filled life. Rest peacefully, dear Linda. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will receive friend from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26th at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church. A Memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Sally Queen officiating.
