Lorene Gribble Bumgarner

Lorene Gribble Bumgarner passed away peacefully on September 23rd at Spring Arbor of Albemarle at the age of 90. Lorene was born in Dallas, NC on December 2, 1934 to the late Edward Ezekiel Gribble and Mary Neal Gribble.

Before her retirement, Lorene was employed by FCX Farm Supply and Addington Insurance Agency. She was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Dallas and transferred membership to and was active in First ARP Church in Gastonia later in life. Lorene enjoyed sewing in her early years and played (and watched) a lot of golf. She loved to travel and was always up for a good, long walk, especially on the beach during family beach trips.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Howard Gribble and Charles Gribble; sisters Barbara Gribble and Geraldine Robinson; and her beloved husband of almost 61 years, Thomas Leroy Bumgarner.

Lorene is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Debbie Ware (Jim) and Sheila Holland (David), four grandchildren and their spouses, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by brothers James Edward Gribble and John Gribble and sisters, Robeana Chaffiot, Tommi Campbell, Joyce Lowery, and Brenda Haney.

A service honoring Lorene’s life will be held Saturday, September 27th at 3 pm at First ARP Church in Gastonia, 317 S. Chester Street, Gastonia, NC, with Reverend Matt Kuiken officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are David Holland, Bryan Shaver, Jim Ware, Owen Simpson, Chuck Gribble and Matt Amsler. Interment will be private at Westview Gardens.
