Lyndia Collins Carr

Lyndia Ruth Collins Carr, 74, born in Florida on September 23, 1948, fell asleep at her home in Stanley, NC, and woke up in Heaven on May 7, 2023.

Her memorial service will be held at Alexis Baptist Church, Alexis, NC, on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Visitation will be from 2-3 pm, and a Memorial Service at 3 pm immediately followed by a graveside service. 

She was a faithful, loving wife to Jimmy Carr for 58 years, raised three children in a home of love and laughter, and never turned down a chance to tell you all about how proud she was of her ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren (with two more on the way).

Lyndia lived a life of joy, showing the love of Jesus with beauty and grace, but the first thing you would notice about her was her smile. She attended Alexis Baptist Church and worked until retirement at School Resources in Belmont, NC, where she made many lifetime friends.

Her father and mother, Reverend Wayne and Voncile Collins, and her brothers, Gene Collins and Stanley Collins preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Carr, three children, and their spouses, Lisa Carr Pace and husband, Dondi; Benny Carr and wife, Rhonda; Laura Carr Cole and husband, Greg. She is also survived by ten grandchildren (and their spouses): Jacob, Josh, Aaron, Lyndsay, Katie, Cross, Chaz, El, Chase, and Jordan & 8 great-grandchildren: Grayson, Colton, Caine, Yandel, Carter, Evelyn, Reagan, Sage, and two more that will arrive later this year. She is also survived by her sisters, Vaneese Collins and Wynelle Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lincoln County in honor of the loving care they provided Lyndia and her family during this time via Health Partners - Lincoln Office, at 900 Dontia Drive Lincolnton, NC 28092.
