Martha McGee Smith

Martha McGee Smith, 71, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Gaston County on June 16, 1954 to the late Thomas and Ruth McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wallace McGee and Ruth Margaret Barnette McGee; siblings, Tommy, Lois, Lewis, and Darlene.

Martha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her main focus in life was always to take care of her home and her family. She was a devout member of First Baptist of McConnells, which she loved, and loved her church family there. Gospel music was always her favorite. When she could she would travel to the beach with her friends and family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Michael Smith; children, Josh Smith (Pam), Leslie Smith (T.J.), and Jon Smith (Danielle); siblings, Jimmy McGee (Shirley), Terry McGee, Susan Kirksey (Rickey), Rosanne McGee; grandchildren, Sam, Andrew, Adam, Rachel, Isaiah, Josiah, MJ, Jacob, Chris, Brandon, and Lisa; 3 great-grandchildren, Kadance, Natalie, and Layla; and 18 wonderful nieces and nephews.
