Martin Ryan Owens, affectionately known as Ryan to those who knew and loved him, passed away suddenly on May 6, 2026, in Gastonia, North Carolina. Born on August 11, 1981, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Ryan’s life was a vibrant symphony of music and family devotion, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

From an early age, Ryan exhibited a remarkable musical talent that blossomed throughout his life. He was a gifted musician who could play any instrument, a skill that brought joy not only to himself but to countless others. His pride and joy were the instruments he mastered — a testament to his passion and determination. Ryan’s dedication to music extended beyond the personal; he taught music, inspiring students with his vast knowledge and love for the art. His profound connection to music found a special place in his heart as he played the church piano at Goshen Presbyterian Church and The Living Hope Church in Belmont, lending a soulful spirit to worship and community gatherings.

Ryan was a shining light who cherished spending time with family and friends. His personality embodied warmth and kindness, and music was the very essence of his being. He held a deep affection for his nieces and nephew, whom he loved dearly. Ryan’s life was one of both extraordinary talent and heartfelt relationships, a blend that made him an unforgettable presence.

He is survived by his loving parents, Marty and Linda Norris Owens; his devoted brother, Aaron Owens, along with Aaron’s wife Jessica and their children Graceland, Lynnleigh, and Bentley. Ryan’s life was also enriched by several aunts and uncles who shared in the joy of his journey. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, who surely looked on with pride at the man he became.

The family will honor Ryan’s memory with a Private graveside service held at Gaston Memorial Park, located at 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina. This gathering will be a time to remember a beloved son, brother, uncle, teacher, and musician whose beautiful life felt like an endless melody.

Though Ryan's passing leaves a profound silence, the music of his life continues to resonate in the hearts of those he loved and inspired. He will forever be remembered as a soul who lived in harmony with his passions and family, a talent too precious taken far too soon.
