Gastonia – Mary Ann Harvell, 78, passed away on April 5, 2022, at the Wellington House in Gastonia.
She was born in Gaston County, NC on October 24, 1943, to the late Joseph Ernest Newman and Winnie Ingram Newman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Boyce Millard Harvell; her siblings, Dorothy Meadows, Helen Baker, Lewis, and Charles Newman. She was a member of Dallas Church of God. Mary Ann was a loving mother and sister.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Walter Kelly, Jr, and fiancée Elisa Phillips; granddaughter, Amanda Hoppel; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Noah, and Russell, Jr.; and her brother, Harvey "Butch" Newman.
A visitation will be 11:00 am – 12:00 Noon, Friday, April 8, 2022, prior to the Celebration of Life Service to be held at 12 Noon, Friday, April 8, 2022, in the Chapel of Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
