Mary Alice Largent

Gastonia – Mary Barton Largent, 85, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Robeson County on November 6, 1937 to the late Harker and Rosa McMillan Barton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Largent; son, Keith Dixon; and her daughter, Jacquelyn Wakefield.

Mary was a dedicated member of the Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed spending her time reading and writing. Most of all she loved being with her grandchildren and her family. Mary leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Karl Dixon, Michael Dixon (Beverley), Chad Dixon (Rebecca Boyette-Dixon), Phillip Godwin (Joy); brother, Ponce Barton; sister, Rosa Barton; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and her Barton and McMillan family.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday June 26, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
