Lowell – Mary Joyce Holloway Sanford – 76, passed away at Caldwell UNC Health Care on February 15, 2020.
She was born in Cherokee County, NC on December 8, 1943 to the late Fred Herbert and Hazel Groves Holloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie "Bud" Holloway and Randy Holloway; special aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Gene Grissom; her favorite fur baby, Jessie whom she loved dearly.
Mary attended UNC Chapel Hill. She was the owner and operator of Drapery Designs for over 30 years where she specialized in making custom draperies "making artwork" for families windows. Several of her creations were featured in the magazine House Beautiful which she took great pride in. Mary was happiest being a great "Mom" to her two boys, Marc and Tim; her grandchildren, Jordan and Madison, her great-grandchildren, Easton and Aiden, and then all of her dogs including Sophie & Jessie!
Left to cherish her memories includes her sons, Marc Sanford and wife Angela; Timothy Sanford and wife Terri; grandchildren, Jordan Sanford (Jessica); Madison Sanford; great grandchildren, Easton Sanford and Aiden Sanford; sisters, Nancy Holloway, Shirl Holloway and Sandra McMillian (James); her beloved fur grandbaby 'Sophie'.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm Thursday, February 20th prior to the service. Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Bowers officiating.
Interment will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
