Max Edgar Huggins

Dallas – Max Edgar Huggins, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Gaston County on April 25, 1940 to the late Edgar Hoke Huggins and Marguerite White Huggins and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Charles, Gehrig, Graham, Reid and Mary.

Max was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where he was active at one time. He served as deacon, Sunday school teacher for the youth, and sound system.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.  He retired from Diamond Electric and later retired from United Design. He enjoyed working with programing controllers.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.  Max was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed working in his yard, sitting in the sun, talking with friends, drinking cokes and eating cheese crackers.

Max is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Page Huggins; his children, Mark and wife Gaye Huggins, Kristi Davis and fiancée, Mike Wilkinson; grandchildren, Carla, Daniel, Luke, Zachary and Callie; great grandkids, Noah, Max, Ethan, Andrew,  Braylen, Eva,  Olivia and Willow; brothers, Roger and wife Chae Huggins, Mike and wife Freida Huggins; and his dear friends, Harold and Carolyn Green.

A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Dallas, N.C. with Pastor Chris Parker officiating. Military honors provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
