Maxine Aldridge Long Hill, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. She was born in Gastonia on December 27, 1935, and is the daughter of the late Darvin and Thelma Reneau Long.

Maxine loved to cook and shop. She was a long-time employee of TiCaro Textile Company at the Pinkney Plant.

She is survived by 1 son, Jimmy Nivens and wife Pamela; 5 step-sons, Hilton Hill, Arvel Hill, and wife Phyllis, Charlie Hill and wife Henrietta, Carroll Hill and wife Donna, Tim Hill; 1 daughter, Lynn Wortman and husband Mark; 3 sisters, Billie Holbrooks, Toby Bryant and husband Ted, Ellen Faulk and husband Wayne; 2 sisters-in-law, Lee Carpenter Long, Judy Long; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 6 great, great, great grandchildren.

The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow in the Chapel of Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Thomas Holbrooks, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Releasing of the Doves.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 38 years, Ray Eugene Hill; daughter, Vanessa Whitaker; 2 brothers, James Darvin Long, Gary Long; sister, Imogene Aldridge.
