Bessemer City – Michael Blattau, 62, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House.
He was born on June 13, 1959, to the late Joseph and Margaret Costner Blattau. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Kimberly Johnson Blattau; his brother, Ricky Blattau.
Michael worked as a truck driver and traveled a lot with his job over the years. He enjoyed golfing, playing softball, playing pool, umpiring, and riding his dune buggy. He also enjoyed spending time at Rend Lake in Illinois. Michael was quite a jokester and loved making everyone laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends!
Left to cherish his memories includes his daughter, Brandi B. Watson (Kevin); step-daughter, Patricia Garcia (Jose); step-son, Wayne Wood (fiancée, Amber Varnes); his grandchildren, Aiden, Grayson, Hannah, Wesley, and Chevis; his siblings, Diane Reynolds, Joey Blattau (Diane), Mary Clemmer, Bobby Blattau (Robin), Rosie Mrotz (Mike) and Becky Wood (Bryan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, c/o Robin Johnson Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
