Gastonia – Michael Allen Eckard, 70, passed away February 4, 2022, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Gaston County on May 17, 1951, to the late Ralph James Eckard and Winnie Marie Matherson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Buddy and Bobby Eckard.
Mike enjoyed playing his guitar in his early days, spending time on his front porch. He was a family man and enjoyed his time with his family. Mike worked in construction most of his life.
Left to cherish Mike's memories is his loving wife, Fidelia "Dinky" Stowe Eckard; his son, Jeremiah Eckard; brothers, Danny Eckard, Joe (Jill) Eckard and Terry (Kelly) Eckard, sisters, Myra Rhyne and Carolyn (Joe) Williams, and sister-in-law, Ann Eckard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Withers and Whisenant Chapel with Reverend Bobby Whitaker officiating.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donor's choice.
