Mike Kennedy

Stanley – Ernest Michael “Mike” Kennedy, 71, passed away July 16, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

 He was born in Gaston County, on June 26, 1951 to the late A.C. Kennedy and Grace Whitley Kennedy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kennedy.

He retired from textiles with over 30 years of dedicated service and later retired from DOT-Paw Creek with 10 + years. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also loved sports and watching football.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory is his devoted wife, Deborah “Deb” Carpenter Kennedy; his grandchildren, Shelby Ward and Josh Ward; great grandchildren, Caden Riddle and Bailey Merritt.

A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Lawing officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Carpenter, Bobby Carpenter, Terry Joe Neal, Josh Turner, Charles Childress, and Casey Smith.
