Gastonia - Murriel Lathan Jenkins, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas. She was born in North Belmont on August 7, 1934 and is the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida O'Daniel Lathan and the widow of Carl "Casey" Frank Jenkins husband of 59 years.

Murriel was a graduate of Belmont High School. She was a very active member of Myrtle United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She started her career with Southern Bell and retired after 30 years of combined service from AT&T. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneer Organization.

Murriel is survived by her loving daughter, Regina "Gina" Jenkins Walker and husband Jackie; one sister, Iris "Okie" Mason; sister-in-law, Martha McConnell (Bill); two grandchildren, whom she adored, Amber Lange (Paul), Eric Walker; five adoring great-grandchildren, Carly, Nikolas, Kaylee, Alexa, Rhett; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2021, in the War Memorial Section of Gaston Memorial Park with Rev. Gerald Ramsey officiating to be followed by the Releasing of the Doves Ceremony. The family will speak to family and friends following the Graveside Service at Gaston Memorial Park.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 59 years, Carl "Casey" Frank Jenkins; two brothers, Sonny Lathan, Marion Lathan: great-grandson, Jackson Putnam.
