Myrtle Leviner

Myrtle Lou Leviner, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 27th, 2023 in Iron Station, North Carolina. She was born on March 2nd, 1944 in Macon County, Georgia to Jesse Eugene Harwell and Ruby Chloe Graybeal Harwell. Myrtle is survived by her husband of 34 years, Wayne Leviner; her daughter, Lisa Chloe Summey; son William Eugene Summey and his wife Courtnee Nachelle; brothers Ed  and Johnny Sturgill; grandchildren Joshua, Nathan, and Cameron Summey; as well as her brothers and sister-in-law, Janice and John Parnell, Nancy and Jim Cook, Paul and Kay Hites, Scott Leviner, Richard and Cindy Leviner, Gordon and Melissa Tomberlin, Larry Leviner, Brock Leviner, numerous nieces and nephews; and special cousins Sandy and Hugh Holland.

Myrtle spent much of her career at Advance Auto Parts delivering auto parts in Lincolnton. She was known to be a Tar Heel fan but more importantly a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many. Her personality was infectious; she had an unwavering kindness that drew people to her. Anyone who knew Myrtle would tell you that she loved animals – especially cats, dogs, and birds -and family get-togethers were cherished events especially during Thanksgiving & Christmas.


When she wasn't spending time with her family or watching Tar Heel games on TV she enjoyed collecting precious moments figurines and angels. She had a keen eye for the perfect picture too! Myrtle loved nothing more than capturing those special moments with family during holidays. She was also a very proud breast cancer survivor.

A visitation will be held in memory of Myrtle from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on May 7th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home in Gastonia North Carolina. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm with Chaplain Christopher Hensley officiating.  


Myrtle Lou Leviner touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who loved her very much.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Donita Drive, Lincolnton NC, 28092.
