Gastonia – Nancy Saunders, 68, joined her Heavenly Father on December 30, 2021, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Gaston County on December 18, 1953, to the late Fred Carson Saunders and Violet Helton Saunders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Saunders.
Nancy was a dedicated member of Flint Groves Baptist Church. She was a proud Sunday school teacher and 3 score plus team player. Nancy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and also a huge Duke Blue Devil's fan. She was very inquisitive, and such a generous person, she would truly give you the shirt off her back or the last dollar she had. Nancy proudly worked at the Gaston Gazette for over 47 dedicated years before retiring as Senior Advertising Administrator Assistant. Nancy was a loving and kind sister, a wonderful aunt, and an amazing friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her!
Left to cherish her memory include her brother, Timothy Saunders and wife Angela; their children, Somer and Matt (Allison) and grandchild, Sarah Kate; her sister, Keitha Saunders and children, Michael, Shannon (Kevin), and their children, Kade, Caleb, and Caila; Douglas and Michelle and daughter, Ashley; sister-in-law, Iris Saunders and her children, Whitley (Jennifer), and their children, Jacob, Brooke; Amber (Dan), and their children, Jada, Ava Layla Joyanna; and Cain; her best friend of 44 years, Denise Wallace; and numerous great-nieces and nephews
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20th at Flint Groves Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Bowers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Violet Saunders scholarship c/o Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 East Ozark Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28054.
