Gastonia – Brady Nelson Ervin, 73, passed away on April 7, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gaston County on October 26, 1947 to the late Carl and Leona Johnson Ervin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 30 years, who died in 1999, Joyce Paxton Ervin, his sister, Jane Carter and a brother Stan Ervin.

Nelson served the Gastonia Fire Department from 9-14-1968 until 9-1-1997 before retiring
after many years of dedicated service to the Community. Nelson enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed working out when he was able. Nelson served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memories include his loving children, Amanda (Michael) Cabaniss, Brian Jason Ervin; grandson, Wyatt Cabaniss; brothers Jack (Polly) Ervin, Andy Ervin and a sister Linda Ervin and numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Robin Grigg, Dale Burkett, Joe Strain, Ronnie McCarver, Kevin and Donna Summey.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 11th at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal League of Gaston County,
425 West Franklin Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28052.
