Gastonia – Norma Jean McDonald Morrison, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on October 24, 2020. She slipped peacefully away from this life and entered joyfully into a glorious eternity.
Norma was born in Mecklenburg County on December 24, 1937 to the late William McDonald and Ethel McDonald. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Bob Morrison; son, Rob Morrison, brother, Gary McDonald and grandson, Jeff Cunningham.
Many family members remain to cherish her lessons in life and all of the special memories they shared. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Pine and Beth Cunningham and husband Scott, her beloved son-in-law; her grandchildren, Amy Piner, Allison Travis and husband Chris, Josh Piner and wife Jessie; and Zach Cunningham. In addition she was blessed with seven great grandchildren who adored her, Ethan, Amber, Lucas, Madison, Elise, Alena and Brecklyn are forever touched by her love. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Rhinehart and husband Joe; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Norma was a genuine treasure with a kind and compassionate heart. She truly loved people. Her smile, laughter and caring were contagious and one could only feel happiness in her presence. Her light shined brightly and made the world a better place for so many. She will be laid to rest in a private service, surrounded by her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to a charity of your choice and/or to a local food bank.
