Odis "Ken" Kenneth Strange

Odis "Ken" Kenneth Strange, 82, went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina on July 22, 1939 and is the son of the late Willie and Effie Harris Strange. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 50 years, Dona Brown Strange, one brother, Grady Strange, one sister, Linda Hollar and one great grandson Dominic Webb.

Ken was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He attended Spartanburg Junior College and East Tennessee University. He retired from Continental Tire Company after 25 years of service.

Ken was an active member of Victory Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was the First Commander of AWANA at Brookleigh Baptist Church. He was active in Mission Work and he loved to travel.

Ken is survived by his wife of 8 years, Joy Boling Strange; one daughter, Sandi Heavener and husband Bill; one son, Rodney Strange and wife Susan; one step-son, Keith Boling; one step-daughter, Nelda Humphries and husband Jerry; 6 grandchildren, Mary Webb and husband David, Samantha Strange, Chris Harwell and wife Barbara, Trey Heavener, Tori Anthony and husband Lamar, Lexi Heavener; 10 great grandchildren, Andrew Strange, Bethany Strange, Mary Strange, Darien Webb, Paislee Harwell, Blakely Harwell, Rosie Harwell, Oliver Harwell, Leila Anthony, Raegan Anthony.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Victory Baptist Church, 1101 Lynhaven Drive, Gastonia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Martin and Rev. Sam Mintz officiating.

Pallbearers will be Randy Brown, Michael Brown, Gene Kendall, Chris Harwell, Trey Heavener, Andrew Strange. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Biles, Ed Walker,Roger Austin, Ron Withers.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to: Worship Hymnal Fund, c/o Victory Baptist Church, 1101 Lynhaven Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052.
