Pamela Head Helms, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 25, 2026, just two days shy of her 72nd birthday. Born in Gaston County on January 27, 1954, she dedicated her life to love, service, and the care of those around her.
Her career as a surgical tech spanned many wonderful years, during which she touched countless lives with her skillfulness and compassionate nature. Pam's commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family and her faith.
An active and beloved member of the Lowell Smyre United Methodist Church, Pam thrived in the company of her church family, finding joy in volunteering and engaging with her community. Her unwavering spirit and warm heart were a beacon of light for many, as she faithfully served those around her.
Pam was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 52 years, Gary Dean Helms. Together they built a life rich with love and nurtured a family that was the pride of her life. She is survived by her children, Robert Lee Helms and Jillian Morton (Arthur), who carry forward her legacy of love and commitment to family. Her grandchildren—Christian, Jeremy, Hannah, Trinity, Ethan, and Hudson—will always remember their grandmother's gentle spirit and the warmth she brought into their lives. Pamela’s joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Ayden, Madisyn, Sutton, and Liorah who were truly the apple of her eye. Pam is also survived by her brother, Alan Head, and sister, Rita Hall, both of whom shared in her life's journey and the memories cherished by their loving family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Glenn and Ailene Turner Head, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms, as they have always remained close in her heart.
Pam's life was a tapestry of love, family, and faith, woven together with the threads of her dedication and kindness. Her memories will be forever cherished by her loved ones, and her legacy of love will inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but in the stories shared and the lives she touched, her spirit will continue to live on.
