Patricia Jordan Matthews

Our beautiful Mom, Patricia Jordan Matthews, gained her Angel Wings on January 10, 2023 at Atrium Health in Kings Mountain, NC.  She was reunited with the love of her life, our dad, and pretty sure he was singing her love songs right away.  Getting to be with her son Donald and her mom especially made her at peace.  She is home now.  

Patricia was born in Pelzer, SC on May 28, 1935 to Bud Carnegie and Sarah Agnes Brown Jordan.  She was married for 68 years to our dad, Coyt Wendell Matthews who passed away on her birthday in 2022.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, her son Donald Matthews, brothers Bud and Phillip Jordan and sisters Jennie and Gail Jordan.

Patricia retired from Homelite Chain Saws and JP Stevens.  In retirement she and Dad made many great memories and friends camping in their RV at Green Mountain, Steel Creek and Lake Hickory campgrounds.  She was a member of Zion Baptist Church.  

She is survived by her daughters Kim Guthrie (George) and Debbie Shires (Gene) and sons Steve Matthews (Renee) and Greg Matthews (Mary Ann).  She is also survived by her sisters Susie Kester and Peggy Jordan and brothers Mike Jordan, Danny Jordan and Bill Jordan. 

Patricia is survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Tuber, Angela Simons, Casey Guthrie, Dustin Matthews, Matt Shires, Hunter Shires, Kyle Jones, Jess Wallace and Amy Ryley.  Also, her great grandchildren Sophie Guthrie, Cohen, Caylee and Chloe Matthews, Douglas and Thomas Kennedy, Kaeden Tuber, Payton Matthews, Zander Gibney, Finley Simons, Kadence Shires, Ashlynn Wallace, Aaron and Jakob Ryley, Colton and Austin Jones. 

The family will receive friends at Withers & Whisenant Funereal Home on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Reverend Leo Kuykendall officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
