Patricia Ann White

1936-2026

Patricia Ann White of Gastonia, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2026, at the age of 90.

Ann was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Hattie Hartman. Throughout her life, Ann found joy in her family, her faith, and her creativity. She was a devoted wife and mother, a homemaker, a talented decorator, and a gifted artist.

Ann studied interior design at La Salle Extension University in Chicago, Illinois, before discovering that painting was her true passion. She continued her artistic training at the Greenville Art Museum and Tempo Gallery in Greenville, South Carolina, as well as through workshops throughout the Southeast. Ann painted in watercolor, acrylic, and gouache and was a member of the Southern Arts Society in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. For Ann, painting was more than a creative pursuit—it was something to be shared. She took great pleasure in gifting her paintings to friends and family, and those works will remain treasured reminders of her for years to come.

Above all, Ann was a faithful follower of Jesus, her Savior. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia. Her favorite adaptation of Philippians 1:6 expressed the faith by which she lived: “I’m confident that God who began a good work in me will carry it on until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Ann is survived by her husband of 70 years, Grady Lee White; her daughter, Kim McMurtry (Tom); her grandson, Kyle White; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Lee White; her parents; her brother, Charles Wooley; and her sisters, Betty Moore and Rebecca Panther.

In lieu of flowers, Ann requested that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse.

Private interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park. Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
