Morganton – Paula Lutz Helfer, 77, passed away peacefully in Morganton, North Carolina, on September 13, 2021.
She was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, on March 14, 1944, to the late Paul and Jean Lutz. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Leo Helfer.
Paula was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, making dolls, and spending time making memories with her family. She was dedicated to calling her family to check on everyone to know how they were doing. Paula was also a very loving care giver. She spent her career for over 30 years as a guidance counselor making a lasting impact on many people's lives.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Greg Helfer; daughters, Maria Hoffmann (Rick), and Angela Helfer; brothers, Steve Lutz (Janet), and Jim Lutz (Norma); sister-in-law, Patricia Spalawn; grandchildren, Anna Hoffmann-Kelson (Dallin), Carissa Foster (Jeremiah), Kara Hoffmann, and Melody Hoffmann; and one great-grandchild, Clarity Foster.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
