Gastonia - Peggy Dalton Mincey, 82, entered into Heaven peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2021, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Gastonia on April 7, 1939, and is the loving daughter of the late A.B. Dalton, Sr. and Nevie Kirkus Dalton.
Peggy was a graduate of Ashley High School, Class of 1957, where she was Homecoming Queen. She worked as a Volunteer at CaroMont Regional Medical Center (Hospital Auxiliary), and worked in the Hospital Gift Shop. She was President of Gaston County Republican Women. She was involved in PTO's and Band Boosters with Pleasant Ridge Elementary School, Hunter Huss High School, and Gaston Christian School.
Peggy was a very active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader, Church Secretary, Choir Member, Church Pianist and Organist, Floral Committee Member, Vacation Bible School Director, involved in WMU, and served on several committees and in several ministries.
Peggy was a very loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister to her loving family. She will truly be missed by so many.
Her biggest joy was raising and supporting her children and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 64 years, Douglas E. Mincey; three loving daughters, Jennifer Stepp and husband Kevin, Kristy Welch and husband Sam, Beth Mincey and fiancé Tony Robinson; 1 sister, Judy Wayne and husband Larry; 9 grandchildren, Lauren Stepp Parker (Ethan), Patrick Stepp, Blair Stepp, Joseph Stepp, Julia Stepp, Katie Welch, Madison Welch, Kelsey Cagle, Kendall Cagle; two great-grandchildren, Ariana Parker, Roen Parker.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Highway, Gastonia. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Glandon officiating.
Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the Releasing of the Doves.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, A.B. Dalton, Jr., Ronald Braxton Dalton.
Memorials are requested to Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 York Highway, Gastonia, North Carolina 28052.
