Peggy Sue Beaty Rankin

Peggy Sue Beaty Rankin, aged 89, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Born on November 12, 1936, in Gaston County, NC, she was the beloved daughter of William Carl Beaty and Edna Mayfield Beaty, who predeceased her, along with her sister, Shirley Goodrum and a brother, Floyd Beaty.

Peggy dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to Freightliner, where she retired, leaving a legacy of hard work and commitment. She was a proud 1955 graduate of Belmont High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte, establishing a strong foundation for her future endeavors.

A multifaceted individual, Peggy was known not only for her career but also for her vibrant personality and numerous talents. She was a wonderful basketball and baseball player, capturing the admiration of many, as she played marbles with remarkable skill. Her innate abilities on the court and field made her a sought-after teammate, earning her the affectionate title of "Superwoman" in Belmont.

Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe B. Rankin, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage since 1957. She leaves behind her children, Allen Rankin and wife Laura of Charlotte, and daughter Lynda Schott of Gastonia, NC. Peggy also cherished her wonderful grandchildren, Daniel Rankin and wife Emily, Paul Rankin, Anna Schott, and Rick Schott, Jr., who were among her proudest accomplishments.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy's life at Catawba Heights Baptist Church, located at 311 Belmont Mt Holly Rd, Belmont, NC, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at The Heights Church with Reverend Phil Meadows and Reverend Raymond Johns officiating. .

Peggy Sue Beaty Rankin's legacy will endure through the memories she created and the love she so generously shared. She will be sorely missed yet fondly remembered by all those who had the privilege to know her.
