Rev. Joseph Albert "Chubby" Edwards, Jr.

Kings Mountain - Joseph A. Edwards, Jr., 82, peacefully entered into Heaven to receive his robe and crown on January 20^th, 2023 at his home. 

He was born on April 30, 1940 in Eden, NC to the late Joseph Albert Edwards, Sr. and Ellen Arlene Nichols Edwards.  He lived a majority of his life in Gaston County.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Brandon Yukob, Amber Edwards, and James “Jimmy” Yukob. 

He served in the US Navy from 1958-1962. Pastor Joe was a faithful servant of our Lord in the Wesleyan Church for many years and was ordained in 1970.  He cherished his family and loved spending time with them.  During his ministry, he enjoyed visiting his church congregation and working with children in the Christian schools he planted.  In his retired years, he enjoyed bird watching, fishing and gardening. 

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 64 years, Linda Ann English Edwards.  He is also survived by his children Pam Yukob (Mark), Joey Edwards (Pam), Christa Edwards Schronce, Renee Whitney (Scott); brother, James Edwards (Jane); sisters, Barbara Sherrin and Debbie Cashwell; grandchildren, Angel, Sean, Jenny, Ian (Lauren), Caleb (Adrianna), Mackenzie, Noah, Jayden, Ayden, Sydney, Alyssa, Landon, Riley, Spencer, Lennox, Evelyn, Jacob, and Anderson. 

The family will receive friends at East Gold Street Wesleyan Church, 701 East Gold Street, Kings Mountain, NC 28086 on Saturday, January 28^th, 2023 from 1:00 to 1:50pm. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00pm at East Gold Street Wesleyan Church with Reverend Scott Whitney officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

Pallbearers will be, Sean Hoke, Ian Hoke, Caleb Schronce, Noah Yukob, Ayden Whitney, and Landon Booker.
