Belmont, NC – Richard Oren Henson, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 20, 1936, in LeRoy, Illinois to the late Lucille Anderson (Henson).
Shortly after high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He then worked in the trucking industry for many years until moving to Camp Verde, AZ where he and his wife started Anne's House Elder Care, providing home care for the elderly until his retirement. From AZ, he retired to Belmont, NC where he was an active member of Gaston Christian Church. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, drawing/painting, and in past years playing golf.
Survived by his loving wife of many years, Annette M. Schneider; his loving children, Rodney Henson (Cindy), Shondi Hogan (Mark), and Tina Hubbs (Christopher); his wonderful grandchildren, Ryan Hogan (Kerri), Kyle Hogan (Krista), Rodney Henson Jr., Gaby Hubbs, and Sophia Hubbs; and 5 great-grandchildren, Keira Hogan, Brynlee Hogan, Riley Hogan, Laila Hogan, and Camden Henson; sister, Ginger (Art); and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Gaston Christian Church, 5339 South New Hope Road, Belmont, North Carolina 28012 with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are being requested to Gaston Hospice, Post Office Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
