Robert Terry Mobley, affectionately known to many as Terry, passed away on August 15, 2026, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born on October 25, 1941, in Gaston County, North Carolina, Terry lived a distinguished life marked by dedication to family, deep roots in his hometown, and quietly impactful accomplishments.
The son of Robert Glen Mobley and Laura Elizabeth Green Mobley, both preceding him in death, Terry was raised with the values of integrity, hard work, and kindness. From his earliest days in Gaston County, these principles were evident in the way he carried himself and in his approach to life’s many responsibilities.
Throughout his eight and a half decades, Terry built meaningful relationships that endured and deepened over time. He was profoundly shaped by the love and support of his parents, and he drew great strength from his bonds with siblings and his own children. The memory of his son, Rex Mobley, and his twin-brother, Jerry Mobley, who have also passed before him, remained close to his heart.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Pat Austin Mobley, his children, Ty Mobley (Theresa), Rita Lingafelt (David), Lisa Thrams (David) all of Dallas, grandchildren, Susan Jellum (Jon), Jennifer Anderson (DJ), Grant Thrams, Daniel Leake, Aaron Thrams (Ashley); 9 great grandchildren . The relationship between father and his children, was characterized by mutual respect, admiration, and unwavering familial support. They remain as a testament to Terry’s legacy, carrying forward the lessons and cherished memories born from a lifetime together. and also his brothers, Roger Mobley and Leroy Mobley (Jenny)
Terry Mobley leaves a legacy forged through steadfastness and compassion. While details of his professional path and community involvement are not expressed here, his impact is apparent in the grief and remembrance of those closest to him. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty as a father and brother, and the dignified example he set for surviving and future generations.
Family, friends, and all who knew Terry are invited to pay their respects at a visitation, which will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Salvation Church at Rankin Lake, 2705 Gastonia Dallas Hwy, Dallas, NC 28034. A memorial service will follow at the same location at 3:00 p.m., providing an occasion to honor Terry’s life, share memories, and celebrate the enduring impact he has made on his family and community.
