Ronald Charles Smith, 76, of Gastonia, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

 

He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 14, 1947 to the late Kenneth W. Smith and Mary Schmidt Smith.

 

Ronald enjoyed computers and spent his career as an I.T. project manager. He also liked reading and watching Sci-Fi and going on hikes with his wife, Laurie. Most of all Ronald loved family gatherings and making many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Laurie Jeanne Smith; children, Brian Kent Smith (Jill), Kevin Andrew Smith, and Cheri Anne Jones (Jesse); sister, Kathy Nelson (Alan); grandchildren, Crystal Smith, Shawn Sheets, Brittany Littell, Carson Smith, Nora Smith, Sydney Smith; and his great grandchildren, LillyAnne Stadler and Logan Haught.  

 

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Samaritans Purse.
