With Gentle Hearts and deep love, we celebrate the life of Roy Lee Wilson who passed away peacefully at his home with his family at the age of 94. A Loving Husband, devoted father, faithful Christian, and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. Roy’s life was a quiet testament to strength, loyalty, and love.
Born on November 3, 1930 in Gastonia where he lived out his life. Roy lived a life defined by faith, loyalty, and quiet strength. A long-time member of Souls Harbor. He was a man who didn’t need to say much – his steady presence and consistent kindness spoke volumes. Roy loved the Lord deeply and lived out his faith through a life of integrity and service.
Roy worked for many years as a dedicated truck driver traveling all over the U.S. with tireless devotion to provide for his family. He found dignity and pride in his work, never seeking recognition but always doing what needed to be done.
Though a man of few words, Roy’s love for his family was unmistakable. He was a loyal husband, a caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, AKA “Sweetie Pie”. Family was his greatest blessing and he found his deepest joy in the simple moments.
Roy was married to the love of his life, Patsy “Kat” for over 74 beautiful years. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
In addition to his wife, Patsy “Kat” Oakley Wilson, he is survived by his daughters, Robin Ramsey (Jim), Lynn McDonald (Terry), and Dawn Fields (Todd); brothers, Ronald Wilson and Ralph Wilson; sister, Juanita Oakley; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Mary Wilson; brothers, Lawson and Ray Wilson.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Souls Harbor Tabernacle, 271 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia, North Carolina. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James Chambers and Mr. Wesley Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Wesley Ramsey, Shawn Sexton, Ryan Morrison, Ethan Presley, Tommy Harris, and Chuck Wilson.
Though he has gone to be with his Savior, Roy’s love remains deeply rooted in the hearts of those he cherished. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
