Gastonia- Ruby Stone Christenbury, 74, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021. She was born in Gaston County on February 2, 1947 to the late John C Stone and Belvia Bagwell Stone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ebbie Lee Christenbury, Jr.; and by a daughter, Debora Phillips, grandson, Jamie Phillips and a great grandson, Christopher Hughes, and her siblings, James, Spencer, Gary, J.R., and Betty Stone.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ruby loved her family and loved Jesus; she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grand-kids. She also enjoyed trips to the beach and the mountains. Ruby was a precious soul and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Libby Campbell; Shane (Cindy) Christenbury; and three additional children; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; Sister, Joni Hayes.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with A Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sunday in the Chapel at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Stone officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Seasons.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Douglas, E.T. Ellis, Nick Ellis, Jordan Camp, Charles Tallent and Mark Gilliam.
