Sandy Steelman Hayes

Dallas – Sandra “Sandy” Steelman Hayes, 67, entered into heaven on March 19, 2023. She passed peacefully at her residence with her family by her side.

Sandy was born July 1, 1955 in Gaston County to the late Gwyn and Mary Mildred Picklesimer Steelman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandbaby, Landry Collins and her brother, Jerry Steelman.

Sandy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Lakeside Church of God. Sandy was a very talented home decorator. She loved cooking for her family and was well known for her excellent home cooking.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 48 years, Kenneth Hayes; her beloved children, Summer Hayes Collins and husband Reverend Jason Collins; son, Kenny Hayes; grandchildren, Makenzie Scarbrough, Noah Collins (Hope Collins), Sawyer Collins, Sage Collins, Jemma Collins, Tripp Hayes, Max Hayes, Charlie Collins and a great grandson, Henry Collins; sisters, Judy Williams and Becky Smith; and sister-in-law, Sharon Steelman: special like a son, Chad Owens; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Hardin Community Baptist Church on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 pm.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm at the Church with Pastor Jason Collins officiating.  Interment will follow at Hardin Community Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Noah Collins, Sawyer Collins, Ryan Lyda, John Waldrop, Justin Hayes, and Shane Dickerson
