Sarah Beaty Bentley

Sarah Elizabeth Beaty Bentley, 88, joined her heavenly Father peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

She was born in Gaston County, NC on April 12, 1935 to the late Fred W. and Nellie Yarborough Beaty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Thomas Bentley and special cousin, Michael McDaniel. Survivors include her nephews, nieces, and cousins as well as her church family whom she loved dearly.

Sarah was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church where she was an active and faithful member for many years.  After Marvin’s passing in 2014, many kind church members made every effort to ensure she was able to come to church services and any special events she wished to attend as long as her health allowed.  Sarah’s parents and extended family were members of Sandy Plains Baptist Church where she was active in years past.  If you knew Sarah, her kitchen was always open for family and friends.  She enjoyed cooking and baking which brought smiles to many through the years with her coconut cakes, chocolate chip cookies and everyone’s favorite soda always in the refrigerator.  She was connected to everyone by the telephone; it was often said that was her most favorite past time, if she wasn’t cooking!  Sarah will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her!  

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 22^nd Gaston Memorial Park, Cherry section, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gastonia, with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. 

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Beaty, John Lawrence Beaty II,  Zachary Beaty, Ashley Beaty and Jeffrey Taylor.  Honorary Pallbearer, John Lawrence Beaty.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living/New Hope for their loving welcome & care while Sarah was able to reside there.  A special thank you to the entire staff of Peak Resources Cherryville/The Oaks, Assisted Living and Skilled Care Units for the kind and compassionate care extended to Sarah, you were ALL a blessing every day!
